SafeCoat® Latex Intumescent Coating
This is a single component, intumescent fire retardant latex coating ideally suited for interior applications on various combustible substrates including SPF Plywood (Spruce/Pine/Fir), Oriented Strand Board (OSB), wood trusses and rough stud construction, where Flame Spread Ratings of 25 or less ("Class A" or "Class 1") and low Smoke Developed Ratings are required. When top coated with one coat of Precidium™ Aquatherm or another manufacturer approved latex paint, SafeCoat® Latex maintains its fire retardant properties. A topcoat of latex paint can allow for darker colors, different sheens, and improved washability.

SafeCoat® Latex is a UL listed product and has been for many years. The product has undergone numerous tests by UL Laboratories on the above listed substrates. SafeCoat® Latex is always sold bearing the UL mark, ensuring customers it is a UL listed product. In order to maintain this listing, our company has frequent random visits from UL inspectors. They inspect the production process and raw materials, and the finished product is randomly sampled and tested for consistency. The fire resistance tests conducted on the SafeCoat® Latex was performed at Guardian Test Labs to the CAN4-S101 Standard. This lab received and tested the SafeCoat® Latex bearing the UL label, thus the test results were on a UL listed product. The UL/ULC Listing number is BMQXC.R19565. You may check the listing by going to Underwriter's Laboratories website and searching under directories and listings, then searching for the company name Quantum Technical, and Coatings, Fire Retardant. SafeCoat® TFI

SafeCoat TFI® is a single component, intumescent fire retardant latex coating designed for exposed interior structural steel where a 2-1/2-hour fire resistance rating is required. It is used for interior steel columns, tubes, trusses and other exposed structural members. It provides a thin, decorative finish to complement architectural designs, giving project planners the flexibility to create unique exposed steel designs with aesthetically pleasing alternatives to cementious products. It can also be applied as a mandatory upgrade to assist owners and property managers to meet the latest fire and building code requirements. It is non-toxic, containing no asbestos, harmful ingredients or solvents. SafeCoat® TFI is fire-resistant andwill not burn in liquid or solid state. Under fire conditions it forms a char, preventing the spread of flames, and slowing the penetration of heat through the substrate. It has excellent adhesion and durability when applied to primed metal. SafeCoat® TFI may be brush, roller or spray applied, however, airless spray equipment provides the best application and is much less labour-intensive, though you should expect to apply ~5 coats at 20 mils WFT per coat to achieve a total of 100 mils WFT and 60 mils DFT. This coating is a white, flat latex that can be overcoated with one coat of another paint to achieve the desired colour and finish. This product is applied at 16 sq. ft. per gallon and has a dry film thickness of 60 mils. Read more...

SafeCoat PVC
SafeCoat PVC Intumescent Coating is an acrylic, solvent based paint which can be used in exterior or interior applications to achieve a Flame Spread rating of 0 and a Smoke Developed Rating of 35 as tested under CAN/ULC S102.2. This intumescent fire retardant coating is manufacturered specifically for IPEX PVC pipe and fittings. It is especially effective where exposure to moisture and UV radiation is a concern or coating is subject to repeated cleaning. It can be used in Return Air Plenums, High Rises, Non-Combustible Buildings where traditionally only copper and/or cast iron pipe was used. This cost-effective coating has excellent adhesion and durability and is easy to apply by brush, roller or spray. It dries quickly to a flat (matte) finish, having the appearance of conventional flat paint. It has excellent adhesion to PVC pipe as tested to ASTM D4541. Read more...

SafeCoat® Clear Fire Retardant Coating
This is a two-component, VOC free, intumescent clear finish designed for application to wood surfaces where a Flame Spread Rating of 25 or less (Class A) is required. SafeCoat® Clear is suitable for interior applications requiring a Flame Spread Rating of 25 as tested in accordance with the CAN/ULC S-102, and a Flame Spread Rating of 15 (Class A) when tested to the ASTM E-84-09. SafeCoat® Clear dries to a satin-matte finish. If you are familiar with the SafeCoat 747/725 Clear System, this product has replaced that system as a zero VOC, interior clear product for decorative wood. This is a specialty coating designed for fire protection and does not have the flawless clear finish of lacquers or varnishes typically used for fine wood finishing. Read more...

SafeCoat® Clear Reducer
This reducer for SafeCoat® Clear is used particularly for spray applications of the SafeCoat® Clear as it reduces the viscosity. It is typically added up to 10%, and never more than 20%. Addition of a reducer will increase theWFT requirement by an equal percentage to obtain the desired 8 mil DFT.

SafeCoat® Fire Retardant Solutions are highly effective, environmentally friendly and economical fire retardant treatments. They can be used on fabrics, straw, cardboard, paper and practically all water absorptive materials to prevent combustion or reduce flammability.

SafeCoat® FR41 Broad Spectrum Fire Retardant
This is designed for use on a wide variety of substances. It reduces flammability on substrates where suitable penetration is possible such as wood, wood base products, dry vegetation, straw, and practically all water absorbent materials where fire protection is desired. SafeCoat® FR41 is formulated to be used as an exterior or interior absorbent fire retardant and provides excellent protection against grass and wild fires. Note: Rain and laundering will remove the product and if protection is still required, the substrate will need to be retreated with the SafeCoat® FR41.
