Magna Coatings is the name most commonly recognized for our SafeCoat® product line of fire retardants that are now primarily sold through Quantum Group of Companies. These intumescent fire retardant coatings are used to achieve flame spread and smoke developed ratings, plus fire resistance rating requirements to meet building and fire codes. Intumescent coatings char and expand up to 100 times their original thickness when exposed to heat or flame. The char insulates the surface and limits oxygen supply to prevent combustion. SafeCoat® products protect combustible construction in commercial and residential applications as well as providing fire protection for structural steel. SafeCoat® products are also used by utility companies to prevent the loss of power poles to forest fires. To help prevent the loss of property during wild-fires, a broad use liquid fire retardant – SafeCoat® FR-41 - is used to limit the spread of fire in dry vegetation, fences, and a wide range of construction materials in both residential and commercial buildings. SafeCoat® products are UL certified and laboratory tested to ensure optimum performance. SafeCoat® products protect lives and property.
