 Solutions!

Tony LaGrange, B.Sc.

President

Besides Tony's Irish propensity to entertain Quantum staff and customers with humorous stories of growing up in a home with 13 siblings, Quantum's founder obtained a B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry and  worked in many areas of the industrial and commercial coatings industry. From there he began Quantum - first in his garage, then to a leased property in Edmonton, AB, and presently to his own facility in St. Albert. In Tony's early days he was a one-man show and handled all aspects of his company - from first contact, to product development, to satisfied customer. He leads staff by his example, and besides fulfilling his duties as President of a quickly growing company, is never adverse to rolling up his sleeves and providing assistance in every area. His expertise in the lab remains indispensable as it does at home with children ranging from a toddler, who already follows his Dad's passion for science and 'experiments' to test his theories on flammability, to university graduates.

Her work ethic and happy disposition are appreciated by co-workers and customers. Embracing Canadian culture, Elda is now a 'hockey' mom. Dr. Robert (Bob) Jost, Ph.D.

Product Development Specialist

The brain drain of Canadian professionals heading south has fortunately worked in reverse for Quantum with the addition of American-born and educated Dr. Jost. Bob began his career at the Alberta Research Council, now Alberta Innovates Technology Futures, in 2006. As a research scientist he was developing cellulose and hemicellulose-based materials, affording him the Alberta Research Council’s 2008/09 Technical Innovation Achievement Award. Robert joined Quantum Technical Services in 2013 and currently designs polymeric materials for various commercial applications. Dr. Jost holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California, LA where he received a National Science Foundation fellowship with multi-disciplinary training through a Materials Creation Training Program and a B.Sc. in biochemistry and economics from the University of Wisconsin. Bob quickly became an invaluable part of the Quantum team. His pleasant demeanor and ready smile add to the easy-going camaraderie of Quantum's culture. He works with a meticulous sense of urgency and can be heard 'running' up and down the stairs from his office to the lab. Following work, he continues 'running' after his five active children.
